The call is out for composers to write a song in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tony Award-winning Jason Robert Brown, whose credits include Songs for a New World, Parade and The Last 5 Years, will select one new song from eligible submissions, which will be recorded by a cast of West End stars and a virtual choir.

Sales of "A Song for our Time" will raise funds for the charity Acting For Others which provides financial and emotional support to those in need in the theatre industry.

Theatre producer Danielle Tarento and actor / producer Paul Wilkins, the force behind this initiative, said, “we want to do something useful, that not only raises money for the self-employed in the performing arts who have been so hard hit by the current situation, but also that creates something utterly meaningful. We are joining forces with a host of wonderful humans in order to create something inspiring that harnesses the incredible talent our brilliant industry has to offer.

“We welcome submissions from anyone… and we mean ANYONE. Whether you’re an established musical theatre writer or an emerging artist, we would love to hear what you have to offer."

Those interested in submitting a song or who would like to be involved in recording the chosen work can find information on the Tarento Productions Facebook page.

Recorded song submissions must be sent by e-mail to [email protected] by midnight on 10 April.
