A new support service for dance industry professionals has launched in order to provide a one-stop shop to support their business needs.

Dance Services has been conceived by Assis Carreiro through research undertaken with a DYCP (Developing Your Creative Practice) Arts Council grant in response to the needs and plight of freelancers during the last two years of COVID-19 lockdown.

Dance Services has launched a pilot programme with a team of professional consultants, offering freelancers a range of services.

Carreiro explained, “in the course of listening to our colleagues across the industry during the pandemic and sharing their experience and concerns, it became very clear that there was a gap in support, especially when it comes to basic survival tools including funding applications, finance, marketing strategy and project management as well as personal mentoring and coaching. How we have responded to this is to create Dance Services and we are now thrilled to reveal our impressive team of industry professionals, who are offering their services with a fee structure that is flexible and affordable to freelancers as well as to project-based companies who don't have easy access to certain key backroom business services."

As well as Carreiro, the Dance Services team includes Susannah Burke as Associate Director, with Claire Bowdler, Lucy Brooks, Jevan Chowdhury, Jim Fletcher, Karen Gallagher MBE, Jan Hart, Greta Hodgkinson, Ambika Kucheria, Rachel Jean Birch and Hannah Moreno (Moving Arts Management), Fern Potter, Matz Skoog and Andy Corrigan and the team at Viva La Visa.
