Headlong’s new version of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, presented in association with Derby Theatre and the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, flies into Derby Theatre this week.

The Seagull featured in 1976 in one of the first seasons at Derby Theatre’s predecessor Derby Playhouse and starred Derbyshire’s own Sir Alan Bates.

Derby Theatre’s artistic director Sarah Brigham said, “I’m delighted that we will be working with Headlong on this new interpretation of a classic.

“Headlong are known for their bold and exhilarating productions and Blanche McIntyre is a superb director who has breathed new life into this audience favourite.

“It’s exciting that Derby Theatre is able to support companies of this national significance to bring their work to Derby.”

The Seagull runs in Derby from Tuesday (11 June) until Saturday 22 June.
