The Orange Tree Theatre walked away the winner with a cheque for £2,000 at the Empty Space... Peter Brook Awards 2015 for its series of collaborations, rediscoveries and new work.
The other nominees—Theatre503, Crucible Studio Theatre, Ustinov Studio at Theatre Royal Bath, Southwark Playhouse and The Maria at Young Vic—all received a critic’s speech for distinctive work.
Simple8 Theatre Company took the Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award given to help establish deeper development of ensemble work within the studio theatres whilst The Dan Crawford Innovation Award went to Summerhall for its ground-breaking experimental theatre and other performing arts. Both winners received a cheque for £2,000.
The Peter Brook Festival Award, with a prize of £1,000 was given to Kandinsky Theatre and The Peter Brook Special Achievement Award was given to Jonathan Church of the Chichester Festival Theatre and Frances Mayhew of Wilton’s Musical Hall.
The Empty Space... Peter Brook Awards 2015 are given by London TheatReviews, V&A Theatre Department and National Theatre Studio.
