A new musical is to be written about the life and work of Frank Sinatra.

Sinatra enjoyed a lengthy career as a recording artist, live performer and film actor. He was one of the Rat Pack with Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.

The winner of 31 gold, 9 platinum, 3 double platinum and 1 triple platinum album, Sinatra had Top 40 hits across eight decades, many of which will be featured in the new show.

As well as receiving, amongst other accolades, nine GRAMMY Awards, as an actor he won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for From Here to Eternity and a Golden Globe for Best Actor—Comedy or Musical for Pal Joey.

The son of Italian immigrant parents, stardom saw Sinatra rub shoulders with people in high places and in (and out of) relationships with many beautiful and famous women including marriage to actresses Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow, wives number two and three respectively.

Script development for the show is to start shortly with an opening date of 2018 currently being tabled.

The new musical is being produced by the Ambassador Theatre Group, film and television producer and film industry leading figure Stewart Till and Frank Sinatra Enterprises, a joint venture between the Sinatra family and Warner Music Group which owns most of the rights to Sinatra's work.
