Frank Spencer, the “hero” of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, played by Joe Pasquale, will arrive at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal in 2020.

After a sell-out national tour in 2018 (which the BTG's Sally Jack reviewed at Curve, Leicester), the show and its star will begin touring again at The Churchill Theatre in Bromley from 26 to 29 February 2020 before a ten-venue tour which ends at Southend’s Palace Theatre on 18 July.

Sarah Earnshaw returns as his long-suffering wife Betty and Susie Blake his disapproving mother-in-law, Mrs Fisher. Further casting will be announced later.

“After 30 years in show business,” said Pasquale, “this has been the role of a lifetime for me, so to be bringing it back again, this time to a wider audience, is a dream come true. Alongside Sarah Earnshaw’s brilliant Betty, the Spencers are hitting the road again, bigger and better than ever before… it’s going to be a disaster!”

Tickets for the Newcastle performances—12 to 16 May 2020—will be on sale soon.

The original BBC TV sitcom, which starred Michael Crawford and Michele Dotrice, ran for two series in 1973 and a third in 1978, plus three Christmas specials in 1974, 1975 and 1978.
