The Dad’s Army Radio Show is coming to Durham's Gala Theatre for one night only on Friday 28 February.

The BBC sitcom will be brought to life by just two performers, David Benson and Jack Lane.

Benson is best-known for his performance as Noël Coward in the BBC's classic war-time comedy Goodnight Sweetheart, and also appeared in the National Theatre's comedy One Man, Two Guvnors with James Corden. He was also nominated for a BBC Audio Best Actor Award for his portrayal of Frankie Howerd in Frankie Takes a Trip. Lane has adapted a number of episodes of Steptoe and Son for the stage and achieved great success as co-writer and performer of Wisdom of a Fool, which chronicled the life and career of Norman Wisdom.

Between them, Benson and Lane play more than 25 members of the Home Guard, from Mainwaring to Pike, in three episodes which have been newly adapted for radio: When You’ve Got To Go, My Brother and I and Never Too Old.

“The show has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences of all ages,” said Gala Manager Robin Byers. “Its family friendly humour makes The Dad’s Army Radio Show perfect for different generations of a family to enjoy together.”

Tickets (£20, £18 concs) are available from the Gala's web site, in person from the box office or over the phone on 03000 266 600.
