Young people aged between 9 and 18 years are invited to audition for this year's production of Iolanthe at the Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Harrogate. Auditions for principals will be in May. There are no auditions for chorus members. There is a charge of £30 for participants.

There will be around twenty fully-staged performances in the Royal Hall, all accompanied by the National Festival Orchestra, with an accompanying programme of lectures, concerts, a memorabilia fair and more.

The 28th International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival will be staged in the Royal Hall, Harrogate 10–21 August.

Festival Director Janet Smith said, "the Festival Youth Opera is always a highlight. We love it, and every year we are blown away by the talent and sheer energy of our young performers. Gilbert & Sullivan is the ideal introduction to opera and musical theatre".

The Festival features a mixture of professional performances from the National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, Opera della Luna, Charles Court Opera and Forbear! Theatre with amateur groups and university societies.
