Over 50 outdoor events from 26 UK and international companies feature in this year’s annual festival of outdoor arts taking place from 20 to 28 June.

Amongst the highlights are:

  • Spanish / Argentinean company Voalá, with large-scale spectacular Muaré in which aerialists descend from giant revolving “optical art” mobiles accompanied by live music.
  • A gravity-defying aerial performance from Metro Boulot Dodo and Wired Aerial Theatre, Safe House, in which large-scale projections uncover the secrets of a house like no other.
  • French company Rara Woulib conjures up the ghosts of the city’s departed for a joyous pilgrimage in Deblozay which looks at how Haitian culture looks at death in a very different way to our own.
  • Providing a timely reminder of the fragility of peace, Polish theatre company Teatr Ósmego Dnia presents Arka on the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo, the event that rapidly escalated into the outbreak of the First World War.

The Greenwich+Docklands International Festival programme will be available at the Festival web site from mid May.
