Greenwich Theatre, which has recently been joined by new patrons Lucy Bailey, Dame Helen Mirren and Ali Smith, has revealed a spring season of classics, comedy, music and one-nighters.
Fearg and the Sonnettes sing Silly Songs of Shakespeare next week whilst next month there is a new look at Charles Dickens in fast–paced comedy thriller What the Dickens.
Sell A Door Theatre present R C Sherriff’s Journey’s End and later in the season Ibsen’s Ghosts and Lazarus Theatre Company offer their signature approach to Shakespeare’s King Lear and Marlowe’s Dido, Queen of Carthage.
There is also the chance to see Grit, a top-rated show from the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe that uses puppetry and projection to look at what happens to children in war, and New York International Festival winner for Best Solo Performance Tom Crean by Aidan Dooley.
Young people feature in the line-up: participating for the fist time in the National Theatre’s Connections Festival, Poundtown is presented by Kidbrooke Theatre College at Corelli College, and Rose Bruford College presents a short season of Harvest by Richard Bean, Earthquakes in London by Mike Bartlett and the Hart, Gershwin, Weill musical Lady In The Dark.
Trestle Theatre's The Snow Queen, the European première of Stiles and Drewe's The Three Pigs, and The Elephant Bridesmaid provide fun for children.
