More than £15,000 was raised by Birmingham Hippodrome for its creative programme during a week of fundraising alongside performances of Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes.

Four nights of celebration were supported by more than 500 guests who contributed to the theatre’s scheme which delivers arts experiences for vulnerable adults and families as well as young people.

Martin Guest, chair of Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Development Trust, said, “as an independent charitable trust receiving no public subsidy, the theatre offers much more than meets the eye—we currently reach over 100,000 children, young people and families every year with our free festivals and workshops in schools and communities.

“We’re very grateful to all our sponsors, table bookers, audiences and other donors for helping us to raise so much.”

There will be another chance to see The Red Shoes when it returns to Birmingham Hippodrome from 19 until 22 July.
