Walter Meierjohann, artistic director of theatre at HOME in Manchester, will be leaving in the autumn.

Following five years in which he launched and led the theatre programme, he will now be pursuing other projects in the UK and internationally.

Walter played a central role in the development of the overall artistic policy ahead of the opening of the building in May 2015.

In 2014, he commissioned a season of site specific work including Angel Meadow by ANU Productions, the first show under the HOME brand. This was followed by his own production of Romeo and Juliet in Manchester’s Victoria Baths.

He has brought many artists in contemporary theatre from the national and international scene to HOME.

Walter said: “it has been a huge privilege to have launched a new theatre programme in a stunning new building and to have placed HOME on the map.”
