Veteran New York and London playwright / director Mark Giesser has revisited the classic Dumas novel The Black Tulip.

Following a run Off-Broadway Giesser brings the show to London's Tabard Theatre, his third production for the venue, Code of the West and Good Morning, Alamo! being the other two.

In the UK, Mark Giesser has also worked at Greenwich Playhouse and Finborough Theatre.

In this modern update of Dumas's comedy about the importance of good breeding, Dr Audrey Braddock thinks she’s found a home for herself and her special maize plants at Lincolnshire’s South Holland University but she is haunted by her 17th century Dutch ancestor, who insists that she completes his failed attempt to breed the perfect black tulip.

Giesser directs a cast comprising of Zoë Ann Bown as Audrey, Richard Lynson as Adrian, Zoë Simon as Perci, Molly Vevers as Sheila / Cornelia and Martin Wimbush as Carolus / Sergeant Ellsworth.

How To Build A Better Tulip plays at the Tabard Theatre, London from 30 April to 31 May.
