Battersea Arts Centre's new film, Performance Live: The Way Out, is now available to view on iPlayer as part of BBC Arts' Culture in Quarantine season.
The film pushes boundaries in terms of form and content whilst offering performances from a wide range of contemporary, innovative artists.
The film, which is created in a single 42-minute continuous take, has Guide, played by actor and comedian Omid Djalili, steer Bláithín Mac Gabhann's Young Person around the shadowy corridors of London's Battersea Arts Centre, coming across spaces which host artists in performance.
Amongst these are artist, writer and performer Lucy McCormick, poet Caleb Femi, dance artist Botis Seva, opera, cabaret, theatre and circus practitioner Le Gateau Chocolat, cabaret / theatre / show production The Cocoa Butter Club, poet, spoken-word artist and activist Sanah Ahsan and band Too Hot For Candy.
Performance Live: The Way Out is directed and co-written by Suri Krishnamma; it will be broadcast on BBC Four in May.
Twelve previous Performance Live films are also available on BBC iPlayer. These include:
- Kate Tempest – Let Them Eat Chaos
- Hofesh Shechter – Clowns
- Touretteshero – Me My Mouth and I
