New York's Irish Repertory Theatre is releasing an episode in its new Meet the Makers series every Thursday for the duration of the present pandemic.

The digital conversations will see a variety of scholars and artists discuss the making of and influences on Irish theatre.

The initiative launched this week with the episode of 9 April covering the history of the Irish Repertory Theatre in a conversation between its co-founders Charlotte Moore and Ciarán O’Reilly, and theatre director Conor Bagley.

The coming week includes a special episode on Monday in which actor Bill Irwin talks about Samuel Beckett in addition to the Thursday episode in which Irish literary scholar James Pethica, actor Úna Clancy and director Ciarán O’Reilly discuss Lady Gregory.

Future episodes include actor Aedín Moloney and author Colum McCann discussing James Joyce.

Other online content from Irish Rep sees homemade videos by company members performing their favourite songs, poems and monologues from Irish and Irish American plays, poets and musicians.
