Jasmin Vardimon has created a new adaptation of the classic fairy tale Pinocchio, based on the 1883 book by Carlo Collodi, which brings to life the famous marionette as he embarks on a fantastic journey to become a human boy.

Showcasing Vardimon’s choreographic and directorial style, Pinocchio combines physical theatre, quirky characterisation, innovative technologies, text and dance to examine the idea of what it means to be human.

Pinocchio’s first public performance launched Kent’s International Family Festival bOing! on 27 August 2016. The national tour began on 29 September at Dance City in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and comes to Sadlers Wells 24 and 25 October, followed by visits to Shrewsbury, Cambridge, Worthing, Lincoln, Aberystwyth, Swansea and Ipswich.

Jasmin Vardimon said, “I find unique curiosity in re-discovering this original 1883 classic tale. Going back to the original Collodi's novel allows us to critically examine the assumptions of ourselves and others about what it means to be human."
