Described by The Stage’s Mark Shenton as “(possibly) the best sung Joseph there has ever been,” North East singer Joe McElderry is to star in the 2017 national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, producer Bill Kenwright has announced.
McElderry is from South Shields (his grandmother was a member of the Dolly Mixtures fundraising working men’s club act celebrated in the musical of that name currently playing at the Customs House in the town) but the closest the 2017 tour will come to his home town is Bradford.
The show will tour to Guildford, Wimbledon, Dartford, Hastings, Torquay, Portsmouth, Edinburgh, Malvern, Shrewsbury, Bradford, Preston, Nottingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Londonderry.
