Lady Rizo

Lady Rizo has become the inaugural winner of the TO&ST (Time Out and Soho Theatre) Edinburgh Cabaret Award, the first ever Edinburgh Fringe award solely for cabaret performers.

New York, Grammy Award-winning star Lady Rizo was making her European debut with this Edinburgh Fringe show. She was presented with her award on 22 August by the three judges: Time Out cabaret editor Ben Walters, Soho Theatre comedy and cabaret producer Steve Lock and artistic director of the Glasgow Cabaret Festival Frodo McDaniel.

McDaniel said, "for a Fringe debut I could clearly see a cabaret star in the making. She deserves to be spoken of in the same breath as Camille O’Sullivan and Meow Meow."

The shows shortlisted for the award were Dusty Limits: Post-Mortem, EastEnd Cabaret: Notoriously Kinky, An Hour Long Sinister Wink, Creative Martyrs, Piff the Magic Dragon in…Jurassic Bark and An Audience with Tomas Ford. All shortlisted acts performed in a showcase on 18 August at Assembly George Square hosted by Miss Behave.
