Theatr Clwyd’s executive director, Liam Evans-Ford, will take up the position of chair at Welsh theatre and arts centre development agency Creu Cymru, from the outgoing Geoff Cripps.

Evans-Ford has been executive director at Theatr Clwyd since 2016 and on the board of Creu Cymru since 2017.

Prior to joining Theatr Clwyd, Evans-Ford, a professionally trained actor, held positions at York Theatre Royal and Sheffield Crucible Theatres and co-founded Sprite Productions.

He sits on the North Wales Arts, Health and Wellbeing Steering Committee, The Wales Arts Health and Well-being Network Steering Group, The UK Theatre Workforce Group and the UK Theatre and SOLT Marcomms Group.

He said, “it is a great honour take on chair responsibilities at Creu Cymru during its 20th anniversary year. Creu Cymru has been a vital part of representing the theatres and arts centres in Wales and, as the sector emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, will become increasingly important to help offer a unified voice for the wider theatre sector in Wales and its prominence within the UK. As Creu Cymru grows into this role, it could prove transformational for theatres, makers and communities in Wales.”
