A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings—sell out show returns in the Spring

It would be impossible to do justice to the packed programme of shows, courses and events lined up for the first part of 2013 at Little Angel Theatre.

For family and adult audiences there is the FIRSTS festival from 11 to 24 March which, at just £5 a ticket, offers a window into the work of six new and emerging companies and a Puppets on Film Festival over the weekend of 12 to 14 April.

In addition to The Annual John Phillips Memorial Lecture, there are other events, courses and clubs for the public, teachers and professionals. There are also school holiday events for children.

Amongst the shows programmed some of the highlights are:

For adults and young people:

  • Passing On—a play with a life sized puppet that looks at dying in hospital using dramatic imagery, February—minimum age 14
  • Boris and Sergey’s Vaudevillian Adventurethe five-star Edinburgh Fringe hit arrives in Islington, 8, 9 and 10 February—minimum age 16
  • The Fantasist—a magical world evolves for Louise when fantasy and reality become blurred, 30 March—minimum age 12
  • Ronnie Le Drew—My Life with Puppets—an autobiographical review of a life with puppets from the man who plays Zippy in Rainbow and much more, 26 April - minimum age 16

For older children:

  • A Very Old Man with Enormous Wingsthis Gabriel Garcia Marquez-inspired story returns to Little Angel after its previous sell-out run, 20 February to 2 March—minimum age 6
  • The Girl with the Iron Claws—a coming-of-age story about a wayward girl who dares to follow her longing, 23, 24 and 25 April—minimum age 8

For younger children:

  • The Nightingale—masks, puppetry, animation and original music are used to tell this Hans Christian Andersen story, 10 March—minimum age 4 (Baby Friendly performances available)
  • Cloud Child—a story about freiendship across different worlds when a child from the sky gets tangled on the washing line, 21 April—age 2–5 (Baby Friendly performance available)
  • We’re going on a Bear Hunt—a major new production from the Little Angel based on the book by Michael Rosen, previews start 11 May—minimum age 2

Babies and children below the stated ages will not be admitted into the auditorium
