Those looking for world class entertainment in the chilly and often anti-climactic post-Christmas period may want to put in their diaries the dates for The London International Mime Festival.
Running from 9 January to 6 February this annual celebration of the best and newest in contemporary visual theatre promises cutting edge circus-theatre, animation and puppetry, mask, physical and object theatre.
The Festival boasts established and emerging artists from across the globe giving 112 performances over the 29 days in a variety of venues including, for the first time, Tate Modern.
Artists from overseas include Belgium’s BabaFish and Alexander Vantournout, Germany's Figurentheater Tübingen and Familie Floez, Australia’s Circa, France's Compagnie Yoann Bourgeois, New Zealand’s Trygve Wakenshaw and Sweden's Svalbard Company.
Home-grown talent includes Glasgow-based Al Seed, Vamos Theatre and Ockham’s Razor.
In addition to live performances, the Festival will offer workshops, films and artists’ talks.
