The Octagon Theatre Bolton presents Love Story from June 19 to July 12, the final production of the 2013–2014 season.

Love Story is inspired by Erich Segal’s best-selling novel and subsequent hit film, widely regarded as one of the most romantic movies of all time.

The cast includes two successful TV talent show stars: Daniel Boys (BBC’s Any Dream Will Do) and Lauren Samuels (BBC’s Over the Rainbow).

This stage version of Love Story by Stephen Clark will be the first time it has been performed outside of the West End, and features a brand new score by Howard Goodall CBE who has composed an entire body of choral music, music for television and musical theatre.

Goodall commented: "I am thrilled that Love Story is coming to the Octagon, especially as my earlier musical, The Hired Man, enjoyed such a wonderful revival four years ago at the theatre.

"It is also exciting for me that two of the West End's most brilliant and sought-after leading actors will be playing Jenny and Oliver, I really look forward to seeing them in action.

"It may surprise people who vaguely remember the film of 1970 that our musical adaptation is—for the most part—not desperately sad but rather a life-affirming celebration of young love with plenty of humour along the way. You'll never make pasta the same way again!"
