Lowry Christmas Appeal 2013

The Lowry has raised £25,000 through its recent Christmas Appeal to fund a year-long literacy project with young parents in Salford.

Audiences attending performances of War Horse and Robin Hood donated to bucket collections—ensuring this year’s Appeal total was the highest ever, topping last year’s figure by £4,000.

Sales of calendars from the arts venue’s shop, online donations and staff fundraising activity also contributed.

The Lowry will use the money raised to bring young parents and their children together with professional storytellers, writers and illustrators.

Together, they will collaborate to write and illustrate their own children’s storybook that will be published and distributed to all community libraries and Sure Start centres in the city and beyond.
