This October, Barbican artistic associate Michael Clark Company presents a double bill of new work with music by Relaxed Muscle and Scritti Politti, lighting design from Charles Atlas and costumes by Stevie Stewart. The performances will feature live music from Relaxed Muscle.

An iconic British dancer, choreographer and artist, Michael Clark first came to prominence in the early 1980s with daring work that combined his classical integrity with a more complex, contemporary sensibility.

His company features some of the best dancers on the UK stage, including long-time Clark collaborator Kate Coyne, Oxana Panchenko (Balletboyz, English National Ballet), former Merce Cunningham Dance Company member Julie Cunningham, Harry Alexander, Melissa Hetherington, Jonathan Ollivier, Benjamin Warbis and Simon Williams.

Michael Clark is renowned for his legendary collaborations with bands, fashion designers and visual artists including Wire, Leigh Bowery, Trojan, Peter Doig and Sarah Lucas.

This new theatrical work follows the company’s residencies in Tate Modern’s immense Turbine Hall in 2010 and 2011 and the Whitney Museum of American Art for the Whitney Biennial 2012.

Michael Clark Company last performed in early September at the famous Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow, the final event of the London 2012 Festival.
