The Royal Shakespeare Company has confirmed that all performances have been cancelled until Thursday 30 April.
Catherine Mallyon, RSC executive director, said, “this date will be under constant review following government, Public Health England and industry advice, and it may lead to the RSC extending these cancellation dates.
“Temporarily closing venues isn’t a decision that’s taken lightly and we hope we’re able to welcome audiences back to our theatres before too long. We'd like to extend our thanks to our audiences for support during this challenging time.”
Performances affected include The Winter's Tale which was due to open in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on 28 March.
Derby Theatre has now cancelled all performances up to Saturday 2 May. This includes the big Easter production Treasure Island and Northern Broadsides’ presentation of J M Barrie’s Quality Street.
