Lovers of musicals in receipt of the inevitably disappointing socks this Christmas may console themselves come January with the newly-released recording of stage concert Momentous Musicals which took place in the summer.
Featured on the CD are Gareth Gates, Jonathan Ansell and Daniel Boys (who all share the achievement of being runners up in Pop idol, The X Factor and Any Dream Will Do respectively prior to having professional stage careers) and Emma Williams and Rachael Wooding (who coincidentally both come from Yorkshire).
Billed as a "homage to musical theatre", the stars' combined musical stage work goes some way to inform the collection of fifteen songs: Gates who has played in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Les Misérables sings "Close Every Door" and "Empty Chairs, Empty Tables", Queen's "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)" is sung by Rachael Wooding who is back in We Will Rock You playing Scaramouche having previously taken the role of Meat, and so forth. The full song list is available on the web site.
The CD is released on 7 January and the first one hundred copies to be pre-ordered will be signed by Gareth Gates.
