Fresh from his musical theatre successes with Spring Awakening and Little Shop of Horrors (nominated for Best Fringe Production at the 2014 Manchester Theatre Awards) for Assembled Junk Productions, director James Baker has announced the cast of Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years at the King's Arms Theatre, Salford.

The musical chronicles a young couple's romance: Cathy’s story starts at the end of their relationship; Jamie’s begins on the day they met.

Playing the role of the young writer Jamie is Ricky Johnston, who is a native New Yorker trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Other professional credits include Spirit of the Dance and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Emily Stubbs will take on the role of aspiring actress Cathy. Her credits include Of Mice and Men, Romeo and Juliet and Allegro the Musical.

The production opens next month.
