Musical Theatre Darkroom based on China Plate’s Darkroom artist development programme

Musical Theatre Darkroom is a new initiative that will see experienced musical theatre makers work with those new to the genre in the development of small-to-midscale musicals.

At the outset, four experienced theatre makers who are new to musical theatre and four experienced musical theatre makers will take part in a six-month development programme which will include a residential retreat and a practical laboratory.

Following the programme, a pitching event hopes to partner participants with venues and producers.

Musical Theatre Darkroom is based on independent theatre studio China Plate’s Darkroom artist development programme, which has run since 2004.

Participating in the scheme are Bola Agbaje, Pippa Cleary, Ella Grace and Caroline Horton and from musical theatre Mimi Poskitt, Rash Dash, Tim Sutton and Benjamin Till.
