An opera house sited within a 17th-century stable block has won the people's heart and taken the Stirling Prize People’s Vote.
Nevill Holt Opera, designed by Witherford Watson Mann Architects and theatre designers Sound Space Vision, has been created with acoustics suitable for intimate opera performances and gives this historic building a new lease of life.
The 400-seat venue, near Market Harborough, is now able to host longer seasons of work including, most recently, chamber music, song recitals, community events, concerts and a summer opera festival. They also run an education programme with East Midlands schools.
