New musical Yarico premières on fringe in February

Amerindian heroine, Yarico, is central character in new musical

Yarico, a love story musical with an anti–slavery theme is to open at new fringe venue, London Theatre Workshop, in February next year.

Based on a true story, Yarico has a book by Carl Miller, whose work includes the adaptation of Erich Kästner’s Emil and the Detectives for the National Theatre, music by James McConnell, past winner of the Vivian Ellis Prize for young writers for the musical stage and composer of over 100 television and film scores, and lyrics by Paul Leigh, co–writer of Moll Flanders with George Stiles.

The producers of the show are John Kidd and television presenter daughter Jodie who have commissioned Yarico.
