Sarah Waters’s evocative novel The Night Watch has been adapted for the stage by Olivier-nominated writer Hattie Naylor and commissioned by Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre as the first of five world premières this season.
Waters’s award-winning work paints portraits of characters caught in the upheaval of wartime Britain and runs from May 19 to June 18.
It is directed by Rebecca Gatward whose production of Maxine Peake’s Beryl toured the country.
Following her performance in Hamlet, Jodie McNee returns to the Exchange in the role of Kay. The cast also includes Ben Addis, Lucy Briggs-Owen, Christopher Ettridge, Kelly Hotton, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Joe Jameson and Thalissa Teixeira.
