The Circus of Horrors comes back to Preston on Tuesday with its latest incarnation. From its beginnings at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival, the outrageous entertainment has gained notoriety around the world, not least when it made the finals of TV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Hit West End play The 39 Steps—currently celebrating its sixth year in the capital's Criterion Theatre—returns to the Opera House in Manchester this week. It runs from Monday to Saturday.

Six talented playwrights bring England’s North West and South West together as Box of Tricks Theatre launches the first cross-regional tour of Word:Play at the Octagon in Bolton, then touring regionally from March 2-27.

The Lowry in Salford gives families an opportunity to travel back in time as Horrible Histories, two of Terry Deary’s award-winning books, Terrible Tudors and Vile Victorians, will be brought to life on stage.

Other Voices is a programme of new drama, music and arts events presented at Manchester’s Three Minute Theatre throughout International Women’s Week from March 3-10.

This year’s Flying Solo festival at Manchester’s Contact Theatre features six free performances from March 4 to 9. This is the third Flying Solo Festival to be held at Contact and as part of the festival 12 artists have pitched to win commissions for £3,000 for mentoring, development and rehearsal space.

Young Everyman Playhouse begins its second year with a return to Camp and Furnace, following the success of last year’s Intimate, with a new production Papertown. The promenade piece is a collaboration with Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and is at the Greenland Street venue from Tuesday 5 to Thursday March 7.

Liverpool Actors Studio present Teechers, the comedy set in a northern high school, from Tuesday to Saturday. Written by John Godber, this classroom comedy will be performed at their venue in Seel Street, Liverpool.
