Local writer Steve Wood has his play, You’re Never Too Old at the Stockport Plaza next Tuesday to Thursday. The tour, starring BBC1 Doctors star Diane Keen and ITV’s The Bill favourite Graham Cole is on its first UK tour after a run at 2014’s Edinburgh Festival.

A double bill of one-man plays that have already attracted attention around the country, opens the autumn season at Preston’s New Continental theatre space next Friday. Beats North by Luke Barnes and Ishy Din explores the soundtrack to our lives through the eyes (and ears) of two men trying to figure it out, accompanied by award-winning scratch DJ Mariam Rezaei.

The trials and tribulations of two people searching for love online is at the heart of a new show coming to The Dukes in Lancaster next Wednesday. Lonely Hearts is a performance featuring two people looking for ‘the one’ in the world of online dating.

Adam Long, founding member of The Reduced Shakespeare Company and co-creator of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), brings Dickens Abridged, a fast-paced musical comedy, to several venues around the region.

Dreamboats and Miniskirts swings into Blackpool’s Grand Theatre next week. It’s the musical theatre sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats, which became a stage phenomenon having played to more than two million people across the UK.

Birmingham Royal Ballet celebrates its 25th anniversary with its largest ever tour of Swan Lake opening at The Lowry in Salford next week.

In an exciting line-up, eight award-winning north west writers come together with some of the most inspirational directing and acting talent in the region for Bridging The Gap – Eight New Short Plays. They run from next Thursday to Saturday in Halle St Peter’s, Manchester.

JustTalk Theatre Company presents The Room by Harold Pinter at the Joshua Brooks pub in Manchester next Monday and then again from September 28-30.
