An award-winning original play is the latest production heading towards Preston’s intimate pub theatre at the Continental in South Meadow Lane, next Thursday.

Einstein’s Daughter by Rob Johnston was winner of the prestigious national King's Cross Award for New Writing last year and nominated for Best New Writing at Buxton Fringe this year.

The Shakespeare Schools Festival is back at Preston Charter Theatre next week.

In partnership with the National Theatre it allows 700 schools across the UK to stage abridged Shakespeare productions in their local professional theatre.

Matthew Bourne’s time-travelling take on Sleeping Beauty has its North West première this week at The Lowry in Salford.

The tale of the girl cursed to sleep for a century was turned into a legendary ballet by Tchaikovsky and choreographer, Marius Petipa, in 1890. Bourne takes this date as his starting point.

It runs from Tuesday to Saturday.

Direct from Broadway, the critically-acclaimed musical American Idiot comes to Manchester's Palace Theatre for two weeks as part of its first-ever UK tour.

The Octagon in Bolton presents a festive production of Peter Pan in a new adaptation of the classic tale featuring brand new original songs.
