One of the acknowledged masters of the one-man show, Guy Masterson, is bringing two shows to Darlington.

At 7:00 on 26 November, he will be at The Hullabaloo performing his one-man version of Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood, a show he first performed in 1994 and which he has performed over 2,000 times since. A staple of the Edinburgh Fringe, it has also been performed in Wales (of course!), the West End and all over the world from Hong Kong to New Zealand.

Under Milk Wood first came to the attention of the wider public with the 1954 BBC radio broadcast in which Richard Burton played the First Voice, who speaks the poetic opening speech, and left his imprint on the play for all subsequent productions.

It’s a family thing! Masterson is Burton’s nephew.

The next day—27 November, also at 7:00—he will be back in The Hullabaloo, performing his 2017 one-man version of A Christmas Carol which has been adapted from the novella by Charles Dickens by Nick Hennigan of the Maverick Theatre Company which co-produces the show with Masterson’s own company, Theatre Tours International.

Tickets are booked through Darlington Hippodrome which is producing the two shows in Darlington.
