The Watermill is looking to recruit an executive director, a new role for this Newbury venue.

The incumbent will support the theatre's strategy, operation and artistic programme working with artistic director and chief executive Paul Hart, as well as the board of trustees, which will also grow under present plans.

It is intended that the board will welcome three new members who will lead particularly on the theatre's diversity and inclusivity initiatives.

The Watermill was one of the first UK theatres to produce live performances after the first lockdown, enjoying a sell-out outdoor season, and later staging socially distanced indoor performances and going online with a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Paul Hart said, “we are really excited to be recruiting for these positions including the new role of Executive Director. It’s obviously still a very difficult time for theatres across the country but we’re focussing on the process of how we bounce back positively from the pandemic and continue to build and hone the Watermill’s unique place within the wider theatre ecology. This new position and the additional voices on our board will be helping us to shape the next stages in our development.”

Those interested in applying to The Watermill will find full information online.
