Worst Wedding Ever, the first Playhouse commission of a new drama for nearly ten years

With the première of Salisbury Playhouse commission Worst Wedding Ever by Dorset-based Chris Chibnall due to open in March, emerging writers in the South West region are invited to submit new theatre work as the venue re-ignites its commitment to the commissioning and production of original drama.

Gareth Machin, Artistic Director of Salisbury Playhouse, says, “We know there is a wealth of writing talent living and working in the region and Chris Chibnall is a superb example of this.

"Over the coming months, we want to engage with the very best emerging talent and to find ways of bringing their vision, ideas and stories to our audience.”

Writers should provide the first twenty pages of a full-length or one-act play with a brief synopsis of the following scenes, together with details of their connection with region.

Full application details are available at the Participate pages of the Salisbury Playhouse web site. The deadline is the end of March 2014.
