Orr becomes Nottingham Playhouse’s first producer

Nottingham Playhouse has appointed its first producer, Jake Orr, who will start his new role at the end of October 2019.

Orr currently works as producer at Theatre503, London where he has been based since August 2017. There he produced In Event of Moone Disaster by Andrew Thompson, Off West-End award-winning best new play Br’er Cotton by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm and Wolfie by Ross Willis.

Orr said, “having been an admirer of Nottingham Playhouse, I’m delighted to be joining the company at such an exciting time for the organisation. The work (artistic director) Adam Penford and (chief executive) Stephanie Sirr have developed for Nottingham audiences and those across the UK is remarkable. I can’t wait to join such a brilliant team.”

Sirr added, “we’re delighted to welcome Jake with his exceptional producing skills to the senior team at Nottingham Playhouse at a really exciting moment in our evolution.”

Orr’s appointment will involve his working on up to 13 in-house productions per year in both the main theatre and Neville Studio. He will also help to develop new writing and assist with programming.
