Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello has been re–set to present–day Britain using the original story with newly written text by SJ Brady.
In this reworking, the play has been cross–cast presenting the lead as a gay woman and looking at contemporary prejudices, domestic violence and being gay in the British Army.
Rachel Hawkes leads the cast as Othello with Kate Hunter as Desdemona and Richard de Lisle as Iago. The cast is completed by Tara Howard, Alex Yaghma, Smith Lowe, James Walker-Black, Siân Mayhall-Purvis and Sinead Costelloe.
Othello is presented by award-winning ensemble By Jove. It plays London's CLF Theatre from 9 to 21 August.
