A new collaboration between London's Battersea Arts Centre, Arts Council England and the BBC will see live performances recorded for viewing via iPlayer.
Performances to be covered by the two-year Performance Live initiative include theatre, dance, music and spoken word, and start this weekend with Kate Tempest performing her new epic musical story, Let Them Eat Chaos.
Tempest mixes hip-hop, poetry and theatre in this look at seven people all living on a south-east London street (as she does herself), who all find themselves awake at 4:18AM.
The evening will also feature performances from three spoken-word artists: Deanna Rodger, David J Pugilist and Isaiah Hull, an extended version of which, Poets at the Rivoli, is available on BBC iPlayer as one of four programmes provided by UK arts organisations in relation to National Poetry Day.
The others are We Are Poets—an award-winning documentary following a group of Leeds teenagers competing in a prestigious US Poetry Slam competition—The Roundhouse Poetry Slam Final 2016 and We Belong Here, a discussion on the importance of poetry and spoken word produced by The Space.
Films will go live on BBC iPlayer on the evening of 1 October and will be available for 30 days.
