Pink Confetti at The Courtyard Theatre

New company, Etch Theatre Company, presents its first full production at The Courtyard Theatre in London.

Founded in August 2014 and dedicated to new writing, the company has so far worked principally at The Peckham Pelican on scratch nights, but this month sees the première of Paul Roberts's début play Pink Confetti.

This work was long listed for the Bruntwood Prize 2013 and shortlisted for Hightide and the Red Planet Prize. Roberts's second work, A Black Heart of Petty Malice, won the Westminster Prize from the Soho Theatre and his second, Come Home, Badger Gash, was runner-up in the 2014 PapaTango Award.

Set in 1973 in a Belfast safe house, Pink Confetti is a darkly funny look at our ability to confuse the personal and the political, with horrifying consequences.

In the cast are Joshua Hill, Graham O'Mara, Rory Murphy and Mathew Wernham. Oliver Dawe directs and said, "in Pink Confetti, hilarity and terror co-exist. T his laughter is lethal and irresistible, shooting straight into the hearts and minds of an audience, revealing what happens when the personal is confused with the political."

Pink Confetti plays The Courtyard Theatre from 27 to 31 January. It is suitable for adults only.
