One of the ways in which charity, The Theatre Royal Haymarket Masterclass Trust supports emerging theatre practitioners is through Pitch Your Play.

Now in its second year, the scheme is rare in that it opens up a commercial theatre for a staged reading in front of a selected industry audience as a way to nurture practitioners across various disciplines.

Unpublished scripts by writers aged 17 to 30 were invited for consideration and six teams consisting of a writer, director and producer have been short-listed to pitch for a rehearsed reading at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.

Of these, three will be chosen by panel of judges whose members include literary manager at the Royal Court, Christopher Campbell and producer Richard Jordan, who said, "Pitch Your Play is an exciting opportunity from Masterclass that allows their programme to further open up the Haymarket stage to a new generation of writers, directors and producers.

"Having had the privilege of being on the panel last time, I look forward to meeting another selection of some of the country's brightest emerging talent."

The winners will be announced later this month.
