#WeMakeEvents’ fundraising BikeFest kicks off events

A one-stop shop for everything in entertainment technology, the PLASA Show is on again at London’s Olympia in September.

Stands and events cover pro audio, AV, lighting, rigging and staging, technical talks, hands-on training and live demos, plus more than sixty free-to-attend seminar sessions in four theatre spaces.

This year's business sessions are themed around industry recovery and the future. Topics include the latest legislation changes, a Brexit update, inclusivity across the workforce, safety and security at a time of crew shortages and protection from illness and cancellations in a post-COVID world.

Sophie Atkinson, PLASA’s head of events, said, “this year’s programme will touch upon all the big talking points in entertainment, from COVID to the skills gap. Plus, visitors can enjoy presentations on the power of technology. I invite all visitors to browse the programme and sign up for their favourite sessions via the web site.”

Pre-registered visitors (pre-registration is free until 31 August) can sign up for events now.

Now in its sixth year, the #WeMakeEvents’ BikeFest will take place the day before the show on 3 September.

Raising funds for Backup, a charity helping industry peers during times of financial hardship and other #WeMakeEvents-supported charities, the full route covers Reading to London.

Participants, who make a small donation to join, can choose between an 80-mile route suitable for road bikes and ‘racing snakes’, a relaxed 40-mile route often along the river Thames for the less sturdy with a mountain, hybrid or gravel bike and for London-based cyclists joining for the last leg into London from Richmond Park.

PLASA’s managing director, and #WeMakeEvents’ Peter Heath said, “we’re proud that #WeMakeEvents continues to champion what our incredible industry is all about, whilst raising important funds for our colleagues in need. BikeFest has grown year on year and is a great example of our industry’s community spirit. I look forward to seeing you on the road as we fly the flag for live events and entertainment!”

The PLASA Show runs from 4 to 6 September. BikeFest takes place on 3 September.
