Jenny Sealey, winner of the Liberty Human Rights Arts Award

Jenny Sealey has been awarded the Liberty Human Rights Arts Award for her work with Deaf and disabled artists.

Throughout her career Sealey has championed disabled artists initially as founder of Common Ground Sign Dance Company and now as Artistic Director of Graeae.

In post since 1997, Sealey directs or co-directs all productions embracing sign language, audio description and diverse physicality within the creative process. The East London-based company plays major London venues and tours nationally with an access support team.

This year's Hospital Club and Time Out London h.Club100 list named Sealey one of the most influential creative people in the UK and the company won the Theatrical Management Association (TMA) Theatre UK award for Promotion of Diversity.

Jenny Sealey co-directed, with Bradley Hemmings, the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony, a mind-changing showcase for disabled arts.

Graeae’s wheelchair dancing troupe Rhinestone Rollers presents Sequins and Snowballs at the Clore Ballroom in London's Southbank Centre on Saturday 15 December. Between the performances at 2 o'clock and 5 o'clock the Graeae team will hold a masterclass.

The performance includes audio description and BSL interpretation.
