Rent

Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester is staging a revival of classic rock musical Rent July 31 to August 30.

It will be the second in-house production of the year, following Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella in May and June.

The show will be directed by Luke Sheppard whose revival of Spring Awakening in 2018 won a What’s On Stage award, He also directed &Juliet, which enjoyed a pre-West End run at the Opera House in Manchester before the Shaftesbury Theatre in London.

Rent is loosely based on Puccini's opera La Bohème and tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists living, loving and working in Manhattan's East Village under the shadow of HIV and AIDS.
