From Tuesday 14 January to Saturday 15 February 2014, The Place, Robin Howard Dance Theatre, London will present triple bills every night showcasing 72 companies over 24 days in a menu of what’s happening in contemporary dance today.
In short dance pieces, James Finnemore (Hofesh Shechter Company / Punchdrunk), Ihsaan De Banya and Kenny Wing Tao Ho (Ihsaan is currently with Richard Alston Dance Company and Kenny is with Protein), and many more, representing only a fraction of the talent to be discovered in Resolution! 2014, will offer audiences a chance to sample a diverse range of styles and genres.
The Resolution! festival, created in 1990 by The Place’s former Theatre Director John Ashford, is the major platform in the UK for facilitating the transition from vocational dance training to the professional performance world. By the end of this 25th year, Resolution! will have presented over 1,909 dance companies.
Many of today’s top UK-based contemporary choreographers, Wayne McGregor, Hofesh Shechter, Kate Prince, and more recently James Wilton, James Cousins, and Eva Recacha, showed their earliest work at this platform.
The Place combines London Contemporary Dance School, Richard Alston Dance Company and the Robin Howard Dance Theatre, together with pioneering learning, teaching, outreach, recreation and professional development projects, which continue to shape where dance is going next.
