A Complete History of London plays the City's ancient Amphitheatre

London’s Guildhall Library is hosting a play by a former banker in the remains of the nearby Roman Amphitheatre.

Previously the site of gladiatorial contests, the venue has been used more recently for a production of Euripides’ Medea and is home next to this one-hour play by Tim Chapman that chronicles the history of the city from ancient to modern times, with a cast of three.

The Head of Guildhall Library, Sara Pink, says of A Complete History of London: “It promises to be a very inventive and funny evening, and I am sure that people will leave this unique auditorium, both informed about how Londoners lived throughout the ages and entertained by the trio’s performance.”

A Complete History of London runs from 20 to 26 April. Booking opens on 6 April at www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/guildhalllibrary and further information is available at www.completehistoryoflondon.com.
