Royal Academy of Dance is to open its doors to dancers and teachers from its international Silver Swans programme, designed to get people over the age of 55 dancing, for a two-day event for participants to perform live and attend practical in-person and online workshops and talks.
This event follows the inaugural Silver Swans Celebration last year in honour of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, at which Silver Swans ambassador Angela Rippon spoke of the programme’s ability to reduce loneliness, improve the health of older people and reduce pressures on the NHS.
On 31 October, online workshops will include learning repertoires from famous ballets, contemporary dance for older learners and Move to the Musicals. On 1 November, there will be in-person workshops and live performances from Silver Swans, some doing so for the first time in their lives.
More about Silver Swans Celebration can be found on the RAD web site.
