Ghostly goings-on at the Royal Shakespeare Company will be revealed in After Dark Tours which follow performances of Hamlet in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford.

The history of the RSC’s theatres is full of stories of ghostly encounters which have been experienced by both staff and visitors.

People have often smelled the Perfumed Lady in the upper circle of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, particularly new members of the front-of-house team.

Another figure known as the Grey Lady is said to haunt areas around the Swan Theatre. RSC security guards say they always turn off the Swan Theatre bridge lights—but by the time they have made their way back to the stage door, the lights are back on.

Spotted on CCTV and on thermal imaging photos, the Grey Lady is described as wearing a long, grey dress and appears so real that she is often mistaken as a lost patron.

Fact or fiction? You can find out during the After Dark Tours which take place after performances of Hamlet at 11PM on Friday 23 August; Saturday 14 September; Saturday 21 September; and Friday 27 September.

The tours lasts an hour. Tickets costs £6.50 each and can be booked on 0844 800 1110.
