The UK's theatres are under increasing financial pressure with the ending of the furlough scheme and the many challenges around reopening, be they safety or fiscal. Many venues are unable to reopen or have no secondary business such as a bar or restaurant to help keep them afloat.
It is against this backdrop and the thinly spread £1.57 billion investment for the whole of the cultural and heritage sector that theatres are coming together under the banner of the Theatres Trust #SaveOurTheatres fundraising campaign.
Partnering with fundraising platform Crowdfunder, the campaign asks for donations of any size to be made to the increasing number of participating theatres or to the Theatres Trust. It also encourages fundraising activities and spreading the word about the danger of permanent closure of theatres up and down the country.
